News >> Successful Weekend For Alumni

North Myrtle Beach, SC.July 27, 2009 – With his second place finish at The Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha on Sunday, former Hooters Tour member Tom Gillis looks to have secured his PGA Tour card for 2010 after moving up seven spots on the money list to 4th and over the $200,000 mark with $212,929 for the season. Gillis wasn’t the only former Hooters Tour member to have a successful week in Nebraska as a handful of golfers finished strong to earn Top 10 finishes.

Former Hooters tour member Brent DelaHoussaye made the biggest jump of the week in Nationwide Tour standings after finishing 3rd all alone in Omaha moving from 130th on the list to 47th with $64,925 in earnings.  After a T-5 finish on Sunday, former member Matt Every inched his way closer to the Top 25, moving from 49th to 30th.

Former member Blake Adams looks to have locked his way onto the PGA Tour as well on Sunday with an eighth place finish, his fourth top ten of the season and third in his last five tournaments. The Eatonton, GA native moved from 7th to 5th on the list with over $208,000 in earnings.

While Gillis, DelaHoussaye, Every and Adams finished in the top 10 , these former members finished in the top 25 on Sunday: Camilo Benedetti (T-15), Chad Collins (T-19), Derek Lamely (T-19), Bubba Dickerson (T-19), B.J Staten (T-25), Bob May (T-25) and Garrett Willis (T-25).

This past weekend also saw successful weekends for former Hooters Tour members on the PGA Tour. At The RBC Canadian Open, former members Lee Janzen and Jerry Kelly finished T-5 on Monday after each finished the week at thirteen-under par 275, while past members Scott McCarron and Michael Letzig finished T-8th. Letzig started the final round on Monday one stroke behind the leaders but a disappointing two-over 74 left him out of contention.

While those four golfers finished inside the top ten for the week, these four former members finished in the top 25: Mark Wilson, Scott Sterling and Camilo Villegas all finished T-24 on Monday afternoon after weather forced the Canadian Open to Monday finish for the first time since 1988.
