Orlando, FL (November 5, 2009)…Garrett Jones (Madison, WI) carded a four-under par 67 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 6,839 yard, par 71 North Shore golf club to garner his first Hooters Tour victory. (Pictured Left: Champion Garrett Jones)The twenty-four year old carded rounds of 66-68-67 for a three day total of twelve-under par 201 and a one stroke victory over second round co-leaders Russell Knox (Jacksonville Beach, FL) and Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL). Both Affrunti and Knox held share of the thirty-six hole held at nine-under par but managed only two-under par 69’s in the final round to finish at eleven-under par 202.
Jones, a former University of Wisconsin Badger, takes home $12,274 for his victory, while Affrunti and Knox take home $5,562 for their runner-up finishes. With his second place finish Thursday, Joe Affrunti jumps to the top of the member’s money list with over $16,300 in two earned in two events. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
The Bridgestone Winter Series travels to Deer Island Golf and Country Club next week for week 3 of the season with action starting Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
