Former Hooters Tour Member Wins 2nd AT&T Classic
Duluth, GA (May 20, 2007)…With a tap-in birdie putt on the first playoff hole, former Hooters Tour member Zach Johnson dialed in his third career PGA Tour title Sunday by winning the AT&T Classic.The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native fired rounds of 71-66-69-67 for a four day total of fifteen-under par 273, and a playoff victory over Ryuji Imada. Imada, the third round leader, closed with a two-under par 70 but failed to get past the first playoff hole after hitting his second shot in a water hazard.
With his win, Johnson collects $972,000 and becomes the fourth multiple winner on the PGA Tour this season, joining Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh. Johnson also moves to fourth on the season long FedExCup Points Race.
Johnson played the Hooters Tour during the 2001 and 2002 seasons and the first two events of the 2003 season collecting four wins and Player of the Year honors in 2001. In his 38 starts, Johnson made the cut in 36 with 24 top tens and over $206,700 in earnings and had a scoring average of 69.051
